A Royal Beginning with Symbolic Procession
The event commenced with a grand cultural procession, symbolically escorting the Swargadeo (Ahom king) from the Talatal Ghar to Rang Ghar Bakori on an elephant. This royal tribute highlighted Assam’s glorious Ahom legacy, where kings unified diverse communities under one kingdom.
Cultural Extravaganza & Unity in Diversity
The open-air Bihu celebration featured performances from various ethnic groups, including Bihu dances, Husori (traditional songs), and folk arts, reinforcing the message of unity. Tourists and locals alike gathered in large numbers to witness the vibrant festivities.
Minister Piyush Hazarika Inaugurates the Event
Assam Minister Piyush Hazarika, the chief guest, emphasized Bihu’s unifying spirit: “Bihu is the soul of Assam, bringing people together in joy. May this festival strengthen our bonds and bring prosperity to all.”
Reviving Bihu’s Traditional Essence
The event paid homage to Swargadeo Rudra Singha, who first elevated Bihu from village gatherings to royal celebrations at Rang Ghar. Today, the festival continues to blend tradition with inclusivity, keeping Bihu’s essence alive under the open sky.
With enthusiastic participation from locals and foreign tourists, the Rang Ghar Bakori Bihu once again proved to be a grand cultural spectacle, spreading the spirit of harmony and Assamese pride.
