RSS Mohan Bhagwat Warns Against Politically Motivated Agitations on Vijayadashami
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday delivered a strong message during his annual Vijayadashami address, which also marks the foundation day of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He cautioned the nation against politically motivated agitations and social divisions, stressing that domestic unrest could be exploited by international forces seeking to weaken India.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bhagwat said it is a wrong perception that problems get solved only through agitation. Protests, he noted, are a natural consequence of social problems and administrative shortcomings. However, he underlined that agitations must aim to find solutions rather than deepen hostility or create divisions within society.
“Whether it is a section of society staging a protest, the government and administration taking action to maintain peace and order, or political leaders responding to the situation, our actions must not create discord, hostility, resentment or divisions within our united society,” the RSS chief said.
He urged people to ensure that even when emotions run high, their actions remain within the bounds of the Constitution and the law. Standards of civility and propriety must continue to govern speech, conduct and behaviour, including during protests.
Mr. Bhagwat further warned that the temptation of electoral gains, cheap popularity or political advantage should not overpower judgement and goodwill. “It is also not our experience that only the government can solve all of society’s problems, or that problems get solved only through agitations. Problems can also be solved through the activity of society and mutual dialogue,” he added.
Highlighting a deeper concern, the RSS chief described the modus operandi of those who seek to destabilise the country: deepening differences, creating divisions among people, fostering a sense of victimhood, and undermining public faith in institutions. This, he said, creates an atmosphere of conflict, intense discontent, alienation, disorder and chaos. Global powers seeking to keep India subdued sometimes pursue their own agendas through such developments.
The remarks come at a time when India is witnessing both political and youth-led protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar amid alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Mr. Bhagwat also observed that people often claim the situation will change with a regime change, but this has never happened in the past.
Through his Vijayadashami address, the RSS chief reinforced the organisation’s long-standing call for unity, constitutional conduct and constructive engagement over divisive politics.
