Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has strongly supported party leader Rahul Gandhi’s criticism of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat. Gogoi condemned Bhagwat’s alleged remarks on India’s freedom movement, calling them “insulting” to the sacrifices made by Indians during the struggle for independence.
Gogoi reiterated Gandhi’s stance, asserting that the RSS’s ideology and actions contradict India’s secular and democratic values. He also accused Bhagwat of insulting Lord Ram, demanding condemnation from the Congress and the country.
Rahul Gandhi had earlier criticized Bhagwat, saying his remark that India gained “true independence” after the Ram temple consecration amounts to treason and insults every Indian. Gandhi also alleged that institutions have been “captured” by the BJP and RSS, and investigative agencies are being used against opposition leaders.
Gandhi further slammed the Election Commission, citing a “serious problem” with the country’s election system. He demanded clarity on voter lists in Maharashtra and Haryana elections.
