Barpeta, Assam – Assam Cabinet Minister and senior Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leader Atul Bora launched a scathing attack on the Congress-AIUDF alliance during an election rally in Sundaridia Zila Parishad under the Barpeta Legislative Assembly constituency. Accusing the opposition of jeopardizing Assam’s unity and cultural identity, Bora branded them as “persistent adversaries” of the state’s progress.
With elections approaching, Bora’s remarks signaled an aggressive push by the NDA to consolidate voter support. He claimed that the Congress’s declining influence in Upper Assam, where they struggle to field candidates, reflects public disillusionment with their policies.
“The Congress and AIUDF are two faces of the same dangerous coin,” Bora declared, warning that their alliance threatens Assam’s social harmony. He also criticized former Congress-led governments at the Centre, blaming leaders like Nehru, Gandhi, and Singh for Assam’s historical challenges.
Responding to Assam Congress chief Bhupen Borah’s defense of Gaurav Gogoi’s Pakistan visit, Bora dismissed it as “hollow rhetoric,” refusing to engage further.
As poll fervor intensifies, Bora’s speech underscores the NDA’s strategy to position itself as the guardian of Assam’s identity while targeting the opposition’s credibility.
