The aircraft, carrying 242 passengers and crew, took off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 1:39 PM IST but lost contact within minutes. Eyewitnesses reported the plane hitting a tree before crashing into the hostel’s canteen, where students were having lunch. A huge explosion followed, engulfing the area in flames.
