In a groundbreaking initiative, Vantara, a renowned rescue center founded by philanthropist Anant Ambani, is set to provide a safe haven for 20 elephants rescued from the exploitative logging industry in Arunachal Pradesh. This effort is supported by the Supreme Court-appointed High Powered Committee, ensuring a brighter future for these elephants and their former owners.
The rescue center will provide a chain-free environment, mirroring the elephants’ natural habitat, complete with advanced medical facilities and lifelong care. This initiative highlights a significant shift toward animal welfare, sustainable livelihoods, and forest conservation.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has denied reports of elephants being transported from Assam to Vantara, Gujarat, clarifying that no elephants have been transported from the state in the recent past.
