NCERT Foundation Day 2026: Celebrating 66 Years of Shaping India’s School Education
New Delhi: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is celebrating its Foundation Day as the premier body completes 66 years of its foundation. The occasion is a moment to reflect on NCERT’s steady and impactful role in shaping India’s school education system.
For decades, NCERT has influenced what and how students study across the country through its curriculum frameworks, high-quality textbooks, and academic guidance. Generations of young learners have benefited from the institution’s consistent efforts to strengthen school education.
Marking NCERT Foundation Day, Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi shared a special message on X (formerly Twitter). Extending warm wishes to the entire NCERT community, the Minister described the organisation as a cornerstone of India’s school education system. He acknowledged NCERT’s significant contribution in nurturing young minds and supporting the nation’s educational progress.
As NCERT steps into its 67th year, the institution continues to remain central to policy, research, and classroom practices that define school learning in India. The Foundation Day celebrations highlight both the rich legacy and the ongoing commitment of NCERT towards quality and equitable education for every student.
