Assam MP Gaurav Gogoi Criticizes PM Modi for ‘Weakening Constitutional Rights’, Highlights Economic Crisis
Assam MP and Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of repeatedly making decisions that harm farmers, the middle class, shopkeepers, and industries. Gogoi alleged that the Modi government’s primary objective is to weaken the constitutional rights of Indian citizens.
“PM Modi’s Only Goal is to Abolish Constitutional Rights”
Gogoi stated, “PM Modi has only one goal—how to abolish the constitutional rights of the people in India. Time and again, his decisions have hurt farmers, the middle class, small businesses, and industries.” He criticized the government’s silence on rising fuel and LPG prices, pointing out the recent Rs 50 hike in gas cylinder costs.
Congress Pledges to Uphold Ambedkar’s Vision
The Congress leader emphasized his party’s commitment to restoring constitutional rights as envisioned by B.R. Ambedkar. He also expressed confidence in tackling India’s economic challenges under Congress leadership.
Gujarat 2027: Congress Eyes Major Comeback
Gogoi highlighted growing enthusiasm within the Congress, especially in Gujarat, following Rahul Gandhi’s announcement about the 2027 state elections. “There is tremendous energy in Gujarat. The 2027 elections will be a prime contest for us, and we are determined to win,” he said, citing strong support from the state unit post the AICC plenary session.
Contrasting BJP’s Approach
Reaffirming Congress’s stance, Gogoi added, “For us, upholding the Constitution is not just a slogan—it’s a firm commitment, unlike the BJP.”
The remarks come amid rising public discontent over inflation and economic policies, setting the stage for heightened political clashes ahead of the 2024 general elections.
