“Protect Hindus, Don’t Abandon Them”: Assam Minister Urges Mamata Banerjee Amid Bengal Unrest

Guwahati: Assam Cabinet Minister Pijush Hazarika has appealed to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to ensure the safety of Hindus amid rising communal tensions in the state.

Hazarika accused the West Bengal government of failing to protect native Sanatani Hindus, claiming that “appeasement politics” has forced them to flee their homes.

“Appeasement politics has forced Hindus to flee their own homes,” Hazarika said. “I urge Didi—do not abandon them. Protect them. That is your duty.”

The statement follows reports of communal clashes and displacement in parts of Bengal, with viral videos sparking outrage. While protests in other states remained largely controlled, Hazarika alleged a breakdown of law and order in West Bengal.

The West Bengal government has not yet responded, but the remarks are expected to escalate political tensions between the Trinamool Congress and BJP-led governments.
