26 Dead in Pahalgam Terror Attack, TRF Claims Responsibility
Srinagar, April 22, 2025 – In one of the worst terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, at least 26 people, including two foreign nationals, were feared killed after terrorists opened fire on tourists in Pahalgam’s scenic Baisaran meadow on Tuesday afternoon.
Details of the Attack
The attack occurred around 2:30 PM when armed militants, dressed in military fatigues, indiscriminately fired upon tourists visiting the popular meadow, often called ‘Mini Switzerland’. Eyewitnesses reported panic as visitors ran for cover in the open area, with no place to hide.
- Casualties: 26 feared dead, multiple injured.
- Location: Baisaran meadow, 5 km from Pahalgam, accessible only by foot or pony.
- Perpetrators: The Resistance Front (TRF), a Lashkar-e-Taiba offshoot, claimed responsibility.
PM Modi, Amit Shah Condemn Attack
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack, stating, “Those behind this heinous act will not be spared.” Home Minister Amit Shah will visit the site for an urgent security review.
