High-Tech Might on Parade: Indian Army’s Weapon Display Steals Spotlight at Doomdooma Republic Day Celebration

Staff Reporter, Tinsukia, January 26: The official Republic Day celebration at Doomdooma Town Field on Monday witnessed a powerful blend of patriotism and modern military might as the Indian Army showcased its latest weapons and battlefield equipment, drawing wide attention from students, cadets and the general public.


Organised by the Doomdooma Co-district administration as part of the 76th Republic Day celebration, the event featured a special exhibition by the Red Shield Gunners of the Indian Army, highlighting the force’s combat readiness and technological edge. Assam Cabinet Minister and local MLA Rupesh Gowala attended the programme as the chief guest.


NCC cadets and students of Doomdooma College turned out in large numbers to witness the display, which included automatic and semi-automatic weapons, thermal imaging devices, light specialist vehicles, modern warfare drone systems and other advanced military hardware. Army personnel explained the operational use of each system, offering young visitors a rare, first-hand insight into the realities of modern warfare.
The drone demonstrations and thermal imaging equipment, in particular, generated keen interest, underscoring how surveillance, reconnaissance and precision technology have become central to contemporary military operations. The exhibition showcased how such cutting-edge systems enhance battlefield awareness, operational effectiveness and national security.


Officials said the objective of the initiative was to familiarise the youth with the professionalism and preparedness of the Armed Forces while fostering a deeper understanding of how advanced technology supports national defence. By bringing the Army closer to students and citizens, the event aimed to strengthen civil-military connect and inspire a sense of responsibility and pride.


The interaction left a strong impression on the young audience, many of whom described the experience as motivating and enlightening. On a day celebrating the values of the Republic, the Indian Army’s display served as a reminder of the vigilance and innovation that safeguard the nation’s freedom.
