India Wins Women’s T20 World Cup for the First Time!

Harmanpreet’s Team Scripts History by Defeating South Africa by 52 Runs

International Desk, Assam Baarta, November 2: The Indian women’s cricket team has created history. In the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final, Team India defeated South Africa by 52 runs to claim the title for the first time. At the Dubai International Stadium, India batted first and posted a mammoth 298 for 7 in 50 overs. Chasing a daunting target of 299, South Africa were bundled out for just 246 in their allotted 50 overs, losing all wickets.

The architect of India’s victory was all-rounder Deepti Sharma. Conceding only 38 runs, she picked up 5 crucial wickets, dismantling the Proteas batting lineup. Trapped in her spin web, South African batters kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Deepti’s stellar performance earned her the ‘Player of the Match’ award.

India’s innings began with aggressive intent. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur played a destructive knock of 76 off 52 balls, laying a solid foundation. Partnering with her, Shafali Verma unleashed a storm with 68 off 45 balls. In the middle order, Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh’s quick-fire batting propelled the score beyond 298. South Africa’s bowlers looked helpless against this onslaught.

Though South Africa started steadily in the second innings, Deepti Sharma’s spin triggered a middle-order collapse. Laura Wolvaardt scored 58 and Marizanne Kapp made 47, but no other batter could provide support. India’s fielding was razor-sharp—several catches and run-outs kept the Proteas under pressure.

After the title triumph, captain Harmanpreet Kaur said, “This victory is the result of the entire team’s hard work. We have been waiting for this moment for years. Deepti’s bowling and our batting unit’s performance were extraordinary.”

Coach Amol Muzumdar added, “This is a golden chapter in Indian women’s cricket. This win will inspire the next generation of players.”

The victory has elevated Indian women’s cricket to new heights on the global stage. For the first time, the Women’s World Cup trophy is coming home to Team India. Amid nationwide celebrations, the tricolor shone brightly on the field.
