Dhubri, Assam – Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma issued a strong warning against those raising ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans, declaring that police will “break their legs” if they engage in such acts.

Speaking at a panchayat election rally in Dhubri on May 2, Sarma condemned recent terror attacks in Kashmir and urged people to support PM Modi and the Indian Army in eliminating Pakistani terrorists.

“Arrest Them, Break Their Legs” – Sarma’s Directive to Police

  • Sarma stated, “If anyone says ‘Pakistan Zindabad,’ we will break his legs. We don’t need people who eat here but praise Pakistan.”
  • He instructed police to arrest offenders without hesitation and take strict legal action.
  • Over 36 people have already been arrested in Assam for “defending Pakistan” after the Pahalgam terror attack (April 22), which killed 26 tourists.

Appeal to Support Modi & Indian Army

  • The CM expressed grief over the Pahalgam attack and prayed for Modi and the Army to “hunt down Pakistani terrorists worldwide.”
  • He emphasized that India must remain united against terrorism.

Slams Congress, Highlights BJP’s Development Work

  • Sarma accused the Congress of failing Assam during its rule, citing corruption, lack of security, and communal clashes in places like Udalguri and Kokrajhar.
  • He mocked Congress, suggesting they replace their ‘hand’ symbol with a ‘lungi’, referencing their alleged lack of governance.

Panchayat Elections Underway

  • Assam is holding two-phase panchayat polls (May 2 & 7), the first since constituency delimitation.
  • Results will be declared on May 11.
