PM Modi Urges Ministers to Join Instagram, Create Reels to Connect with Youth
New Delhi, July 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reportedly encouraged Union ministers to strengthen their presence on social media, particularly Instagram, to improve communication with India’s younger generation. The suggestion was made during a Union Cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister on Friday.
According to sources, PM Modi asked ministers how many of them actively use Instagram and highlighted the platform’s growing popularity among young people. He stressed that the youth represent a significant section of citizens with whom the government should maintain regular and meaningful communication.
The Prime Minister advised ministers not to limit their Instagram accounts to official announcements and government updates. Instead, he encouraged them to create engaging and interactive content that can help establish a stronger connection with young audiences.
PM Modi also urged ministers to make use of Instagram Reels and other short-form content formats to communicate government initiatives in a more accessible and engaging manner. He reportedly emphasized that creative digital communication can help bridge the gap between policymakers and citizens, especially the younger generation.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister is said to have remarked that “the youth are on Instagram, and they are the citizens with whom we must remain continuously connected.” The statement reflects the government’s increasing focus on leveraging digital platforms to enhance public outreach and citizen engagement.
The recommendation comes at a time when social media has become one of the most influential mediums for public communication, particularly among young users. By encouraging ministers to adopt modern digital communication strategies, the government aims to improve transparency, accessibility, and direct interaction with citizens.
The move is also expected to help ministries present government policies, welfare schemes, and developmental initiatives in a simpler and more engaging format, making official communication more relatable for the country’s digitally connected youth.
