In a significant development, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh tendered his resignation to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at the Raj Bhawan in Imphal on February 9, amid speculation over a no-confidence motion and floor test by Congress. Singh’s resignation came after a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi earlier in the day .
According to sources, BJP MP Sambit Patra, State Ministers, and MLAs reached Raj Bhavan to meet the Governor. In his resignation letter, Singh expressed gratitude to the Central government for its support and interventions in the state. He also requested the continuation of various projects and initiatives aimed at safeguarding the interests of the people of Manipur.
The resignation letter highlighted several key issues, including Maintaining Territorial Integrity ,Cracking Down on Border Infiltration,Fighting Drugs and Narco-Terrorism,Revised Mechanism of FMR,Time-Bound and Faster Border Development.Reports suggest that Singh also recommended the imposition of an animated suspension of Assembly, although further details on this matter remain unclear.
