India-Pakistan Ceasefire Violated Hours After Truce; BSF Ordered to Retaliate
Jammu & Kashmir: Just hours after India and Pakistan agreed to uphold a ceasefire, Pakistani forces violated the truce by launching unprovoked attacks along the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC) on Saturday. The Border Security Force (BSF) has been instructed to retaliate with full force against further provocations.
Fresh Ceasefire Breaches
Pakistani troops reportedly used heavy artillery in Akhnoor, Rajouri, and RS Pura sectors along the IB, while ceasefire violations were also reported in Palanwalla sector (LoC). The escalation comes shortly after both nations publicly reaffirmed the ceasefire agreement.
Security Alerts in Kashmir
- Drone Sightings & Explosions: Multiple explosions were heard in Baramulla, and security forces shot down a suspected drone in Indian airspace.
- Air Raid Siren in Samba: A high alert was triggered in Jammu’s Samba district following suspicious UAV movements.
- Drone Activity in Rajouri: Additional drone movements were detected, raising concerns of further infiltration attempts.
Recent Escalations
Tensions flared after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians. India retaliated with ‘Operation Sindoor’, striking terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. Pakistan responded with drone attacks on Indian military bases, all of which were successfully repelled.
Ceasefire Announcement & Immediate Violation
Earlier on Saturday, India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on land, sea, and air, effective from 5 PM. However, within hours, drones were spotted over Srinagar, and explosions were reported near Pakistani airbases.
