Assam Police Bust Illegal Toll Racket at Gossaigaon, 4 Arrested
Gossaigaon, Assam – In a swift operation, Assam Police arrested four individuals involved in illegal toll collection and alleged extortion at the Telipara Toll Gate in Gossaigaon. The accused, reportedly from outside Assam, were stopping trucks transporting goods from other states and extorting money under false pretenses.
Modus Operandi Uncovered
According to police sources, the suspects intimidated truck drivers, demanding money without conducting official weight checks. Some drivers also alleged physical assault during the extortion attempts.
Arrests Made, Investigation Ongoing
The Gosaigaon Police registered a case (No. 48/25) and arrested:
- Gopal Shakiyabhar (Uttar Pradesh)
- Ram Karan Bijarnia (Rajasthan)
- Rajendra Singh (Rajasthan)
- One unidentified individual
Authorities are investigating further to uncover the full extent of the racket and identify more culprits.
