Akhil Gogoi Slams BJP and AIUDF, Calls Them “Partners in Divisive Politics”
Dhubri, Assam: Raijor Dal president and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi launched a scathing attack on the BJP and AIUDF during a public rally in Dhubri’s Piasbari on Tuesday, accusing the two parties of covert collaboration and fueling communal tensions for political gains.
The rally, held at Piasbari High School Playground, comes amid heightened political activity in Assam ahead of the Panchayat elections. Gogoi, known for his anti-corruption stance, did not mince words, labeling the AIUDF as the “B-team of BJP” and asserting that their rivalry was merely a facade.
“BJP & AIUDF Thrive on Division”
“Both BJP and AIUDF survive by dividing people. We will not let them succeed,” Gogoi declared, drawing loud cheers from supporters. He accused the ruling BJP of neglecting public welfare while focusing on polarizing voters.
Gogoi also criticized the state government for failing to address key issues, alleging a decline in democratic values and governance. “The people of Assam deserve better than empty promises and communal politics,” he said.
Raijor Dal’s Selective Poll Strategy
Outlining his party’s strategy for the Panchayat polls, Gogoi said Raijor Dal would contest selectively rather than fielding candidates in every seat. “Our goal is meaningful impact, not just participation,” he stated.
Alliance with Congress Still Uncertain
While acknowledging ongoing discussions with the Assam Congress, Gogoi remained non-committal about a potential alliance, leaving the political landscape open to speculation.
Claiming Past Success Against AIUDF
Gogoi highlighted Raijor Dal’s role in weakening the AIUDF in previous elections, vowing to continue challenging what he called “divisive forces.” His speech positioned Raijor Dal as an emerging alternative in Assam’s increasingly polarized politics.
As the Panchayat elections approach, Gogoi’s sharp rhetoric signals a fierce battle ahead, with Raijor Dal aiming to consolidate anti-BJP and anti-AIUDF votes.
