Centre Releases Massive Rs 2,117 Crore Flood Relief Fund in Advance to Seven Flood-Hit States
New Delhi: In a major relief measure amid the ongoing monsoon season, the Central government has approved the advance release of its share of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) amounting to Rs 2,117.85 crore as flood relief fund support for seven severely affected states.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has given the nod for this timely assistance to strengthen rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations across the flood-hit regions.
Key Allocations Under the Flood Relief Fund
Of the seven states, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and Nagaland have already received the first instalment of the Central share for the financial year 2026-27.
- Himachal Pradesh: Rs 193.95 crore (second instalment)
- Odisha: Rs 500 crore (second instalment)
The advance release of the first instalment has also been approved for four other states by relaxing documentary requirements due to the urgent need for resources:
- Arunachal Pradesh: Rs 44.55 crore
- Assam: Rs 379.35 crore
- Gujarat: Rs 500 crore
- Maharashtra: Rs 500 crore
With this decision, a total of Rs 2,117.85 crore flood relief fund has been made available to the affected states to boost ongoing relief and response measures.
Continuous Monitoring and On-Ground Assessment
Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCT) have already been deputed to Arunachal Pradesh and Assam to assess the extent of damage. Two IMCT visits have been undertaken in Assam in view of the severity of the flood situation. On the request of the Nagaland government, an IMCT is also being constituted for the state.
The Centre has been continuously monitoring the flood situation in close coordination with the respective state governments since the onset of the monsoon.
Government’s Commitment
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government remains committed to extending all necessary assistance to states for effective relief, rescue and rehabilitation measures and will continue to monitor the situation closely,” the official statement said.
The advance release of this flood relief fund aims to ensure timely availability of resources so that state administrations can carry out relief operations without delay during the current monsoon season.
This significant financial support underscores the Centre’s proactive approach in standing firmly with flood-affected states and providing immediate assistance through the State Disaster Response Fund mechanism.
