Nitin Nabin Appointed BJP National Working President, Signals Generational Shift

New Delhi, December 15, 2025: In a significant organisational reshuffle, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed Bihar Cabinet Minister and five-time MLA Nitin Nabin as its National Working President, effective immediately. The decision, approved by the party’s Parliamentary Board, positions the 45-year-old leader as the likely successor to incumbent President JP Nadda, marking the youngest appointment to this key role in BJP history.

Nitin Nabin, who holds the Road Construction portfolio in the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government, represents the Bankipur Assembly constituency in Patna. He is the son of late veteran BJP leader Nabin Kishore Sinha and has built a strong political career, winning elections consecutively since a 2006 by-election, followed by victories in 2010, 2015, 2020, and 2025.

Known for his organisational skills, Nabin previously served as Bihar state president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) from 2016 to 2019 and held roles as national general secretary. He has also been the party’s in-charge for states like Sikkim and Chhattisgarh, contributing to electoral successes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Nabin on social media, describing him as a “hardworking karyakarta” and “young and industrious leader with rich organisational experience.” Modi expressed confidence that Nabin’s energy and dedication would further strengthen the party.

Home Minister Amit Shah praised Nabin’s experience in public service, while JP Nadda called him a “dynamic leader” and wished him success in taking the organisation to new heights. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also extended heartfelt congratulations, highlighting Nabin’s diligence.

The appointment has sparked celebrations among BJP workers in Bihar, with crowds gathering at Nabin’s residence. Party leaders view it as a signal of generational change and increased focus on eastern India.

This move comes as the BJP prepares for upcoming Assembly elections and continues its leadership transition, emphasising youth, organisational strength, and regional representation.
