Uddipan’ lights path for aspirants : Free coaching initiative earns praise in Doomdoom

Staff Reporter, Tinsukia, December 19 : In a significant step towards empowering educated youth and strengthening the academic ecosystem of the Doomdooma Legislative Assembly constituency, Cabinet Minister and local MLA Rupesh Gowala on Friday received widespread appreciation for his initiative to provide free coaching to graduate job aspirants preparing for competitive examinations.


The six-month-long coaching programme, organised under the banner “Uddipan”, concluded with a valedictory function held at the ‘Krishnachura’ auditorium of Hoonlal Higher Secondary School here. More than 200 graduates from the constituency benefited from the programme, which aimed to prepare candidates for examinations such as ADRE, SSC, Railway and Banking.
The initiative, launched on June 7 this year, was conducted by Prayash Human Resource Development Society with academic support from Majestic Academy (A Unit of SPM Academy), Guwahati.


Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Minister Gowala urged the trainees to pursue their goals with sincerity, discipline and perseverance. He said true success comes to those who overcome challenges with determination, and assured that efforts to uplift the educational standards of the constituency would continue with greater vigour in the days ahead.


Recalling his own engagement with social work prior to entering active politics, the minister appealed to educated youth to contribute, however modestly, towards the development of their respective areas alongside their professional pursuits.


Speakers at the programme, including Abhishek Sahu of Majestic Academy, principal of Doomdooma College Dr. Kamaleswar Kalita, principal of Bir Raghav Moran Government Model College, Doomdooma Dr Amorjit Saikia and noted physician and social activist Dr. Pranab Jyoti Deka, lauded the initiative as a timely and meaningful intervention in addressing unemployment and competitive exam preparedness among rural youth.


Trainees Pritam Pujari and Anjali Nayak, speaking on behalf of the participants, also applauded Minister Gowala for conceptualising and implementing the free coaching programme, stating that Uddipan had boosted their confidence and provided much-needed academic direction.
The programme was conducted by Uddipan conveners Abhijit Khataniar and Dilip Prasad, with Khataniar delivering the welcome address. The vote of thanks was proposed by Alip Khan, Principal of Hoonlal Higher Secondary School and a member of the Uddipan management committee.


Among those present were Doomdooma Municipal Board chairperson Kanta Bhattacharjee, Doomdooma College Governing Body president Prakash Dutta, former Tinsukia District Journalists’ Association president Arjun Baruah and Doomdooma Chambers of Commerce president Kishanlal Pareek. On the occasion, the Doomdooma Chambers of Commerce felicitated Minister Gowala for what was described as a pioneering initiative by a sitting MLA to promote educational advancement in the area.
