PM Modi to Visit Assam: Mega Bagurumba Dance & Kaziranga Elevated Corridor Foundation on Jan 17-18, 2026

Asom barta, January 16, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant two-day visit to Assam starting Saturday, highlighting the state’s vibrant cultural heritage and key infrastructure projects.

The highlight of the first day will be a spectacular Bagurumba dance performance at the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex (popularly known as Sarusajai Stadium) in Guwahati. Nearly 10,000 artistes are expected to participate in this grand cultural extravaganza, showcasing the iconic traditional Bodo folk dance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will grace the occasion as the chief guest.

On January 18, 2026, the Prime Minister will travel to Kaliabor in Nagaon district for a massive public meeting at Mauchanda Field (Mouchanda Pathar), where he will address the gathering.

Following the public rally, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor project — a wildlife-friendly elevated highway passing through Kaziranga National Park to ensure safe passage for animals while improving connectivity.

This visit underscores Assam’s rich cultural legacy and the government’s commitment to major development initiatives in the Northeast. Stay tuned for live updates!
