Nagaon, Assam – The iconic Maha Mrityunjay Temple, renowned worldwide for housing the world’s largest Shiva Lingam standing at an impressive 126 feet, will be temporarily closed to devotees from January 16 to January 31, 2026.
The Maha Mrityunjay Nyas (Trust) has announced this closure to facilitate essential renovation and reconstruction work at the temple premises. During this 16-day period, no devotees will be permitted to enter the temple complex as construction activities will be underway.
The temple doors will reopen for public darshan and worship starting February 1, 2026.
