Guwahati, December 19, 2025: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) is set to launch a major statewide mass outreach yatra starting December 20, as part of preparations for the upcoming 2026 Assam Assembly elections.
This initiative falls under the ongoing people-centric campaign ‘Raijor Podulit Raijor Congress’ (People’s Congress at the People’s Doorsteps), aimed at crafting a manifesto through direct public participation and structured consultations across the state.
The yatra will enable senior leaders from the Indian National Congress, along with MLAs, MPs, and party officials, to connect directly with grassroots communities in rural areas. The focus is on engaging farmers, workers, students, small business owners, entrepreneurs, women, intellectuals, social organisations, and community leaders to develop a shared vision for a ‘New Assam’.
The campaign will be conducted by five separate teams, each equipped with a dedicated bus and assigned geographically optimised routes. This ensures comprehensive coverage of regions including Upper Assam, Central Assam, Lower Assam, Barak Valley, Bodoland, and the hill districts. Each team will cover one district per day, with in-depth programmes scheduled in every district. A coordination team from the Congress headquarters will monitor and support the field activities.
The ‘Raijor Podulit Raijor Congress’ campaign was formally launched on December 6 in Dibrugarh, kickstarting the manifesto consultation process.
To promote broader and inclusive participation, the APCC has introduced a dedicated digital platform at www.natunaxom.com, where citizens can submit their opinions, suggestions, and aspirations online.
While launching the website, APCC President Gaurav Gogoi stated, “As a first step, we are seeking suggestions on Assam’s higher education system, as it is closely tied to human resource development. My conversations with students from various colleges and universities have revealed that much work remains to improve quality standards, strengthen research and innovation, and make students self-reliant.”
Additionally, since December 6, the party has begun placing ‘Aspiration Boxes’ across districts in phases. The target is to install over 4,000 such boxes in public gathering spots like markets, tea garden lines, tea stalls, and bus stands, allowing people to write and submit their aspirations and concerns.
Appealing for active public involvement, Gaurav Gogoi said, “We envision an Assam where the aspirations of every section of society are reflected, not just one class. In the digital age, physically meeting everyone is challenging, so this platform helps us connect with all. We want to hear from Assam’s farmers, workers, students, small traders, entrepreneurs, women, intellectuals, and social organisations to build a collective blueprint for a New Assam based on their experiences.”
Party leaders expressed hope that the campaign will revitalise the Congress among the people and send a strong people-centric message ahead of the elections.
