Shocking Bail Sparks Wife’s Urgent Call for Justice for Zubeen Garg at Zubeen Kshetra Today
Shocking Bail: Wife Demands Justice for Zubeen Garg at 11!
Guwahati, October 12, 2026: In a powerful appeal amid ongoing court proceedings, Garima Saikia Garg, wife of late Assam icon Zubeen Garg, has called for a peaceful gathering at Zubeen Kshetra at 11 am today. She urged people to unite and raise a collective voice demanding justice for Zubeen Garg as the high-profile death case continues in special courts.
“A peaceful call for justice by Zubeen Garg… Have a united voice!” Garima wrote in her social media post under the hashtag #JusticeForZubeenGarg. The poster announcing the programme describes it as a protest and appeals for a united demand for justice for the singer.
The call comes at a sensitive moment. On October 9, the Gauhati High Court granted bail to singer Amritprabha Mahanta, the first accused in the main death case to secure release. She was granted bail on a bond of Rs 50,000 with two sureties of the same amount. The order does not amount to an acquittal, and the trial continues.
Another key accused, event organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, is still awaiting a decision on his bail plea. The Supreme Court has deferred the hearing to November 4 while the trial proceeds before a special fast-track court in Guwahati. The Assam government has informed the court about progress in recording witness testimonies, including those from Singapore.
In a related matter, former personal security officers of Zubeen Garg — Paresh Baishya and Nandeshwar Bora — were granted bail on September 29 by a special court in a disproportionate assets case filed by the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell. Both, however, remain in custody in connection with the singer’s death case.
Zubeen Garg died on September 19, 2025, after an incident during a yacht outing near Lazarus Island in Singapore. He was 52 and had travelled for the North East India Festival. A Singapore state coroner ruled on March 25, 2026, that the death was due to accidental drowning, finding no evidence that anyone forced, coerced or pushed him into the water.
Despite the Singapore finding, the criminal case in Assam has continued separately. Seven people face charges, with a special fast-track court framing charges against all of them in May. Four of the accused face murder charges.
As legal proceedings move forward and public attention remains high across Assam, Garima’s appeal for a peaceful gathering at Zubeen Kshetra seeks to keep the demand for justice for Zubeen Garg alive through a united and peaceful voice.
