Massive CJP Protest in Bengaluru: Thousands Demand SIR Cancellation & Gyanesh Kumar Resignation
Bengaluru, 8 October 2026: In a powerful show of public anger, the Cuckoo Janata Party (CJP) organised a mega protest at Freedom Park on Thursday against widespread irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Protesters raised strong slogans demanding “Cancel SIR” and “Gyanesh Kumar Resign” while turning the venue into a People’s Tribunal.
Popular YouTuber Dhruv Rathee and veteran actor-activist Prakash Raj joined the gathering and stood firmly with the affected voters. Rathee declared that the fight is not for any political party but for every citizen’s voting right and the survival of democracy. He strongly condemned the deletion of names of lakhs of genuine voters and said those still protecting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar are the biggest enemies of the nation.
CJP founder Abhijit Dipak informed that victims from different parts of Karnataka gave their testimonies at the People’s Tribunal. As part of the programme, a symbolic “Chappal Protest” was also held. The organisation made it clear that the movement will not remain limited to Bengaluru.
CJP has announced a large-scale national protest on 10 October 2026 at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, where people from across the country will demand the immediate resignation of Gyanesh Kumar and complete cancellation of the flawed SIR process. Protesters warned that the agitation will continue until these demands are met.
The CJP protest has once again put the spotlight on questions of transparency and fairness in India’s election process.
