Powerful PM Modi Boosts Energy Security: Expanded Imports from Over 40 Countries Amid West Asia Crisis!

Pachpadra (Rajasthan), July 4, 2026: In a strong display of leadership, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Ltd. (HRRL) and proudly announced India’s remarkable success in navigating the West Asia Crisis by dramatically expanding energy imports to over 40 countries.

Speaking at the event in Balotra district, PM Modi detailed how proactive diplomacy and diversification shielded Indian citizens from the severe global energy shocks triggered by geopolitical tensions in West Asia, including conflicts involving Iran and the US-Israel alliance.

Key Highlights from PM Modi’s Address:

  • India increased its energy import sources from 25-26 countries pre-crisis to more than 40 nations, ensuring stable fuel supplies.
  • State-run oil companies absorbed massive losses exceeding ₹75,000 crore in just April-June due to soaring international crude prices.
  • The government slashed excise duty on petrol and diesel by ₹10 per litre to minimize the burden on common citizens.
  • Strong diplomatic outreach and long-term policies helped secure supplies of fuel and fertilisers despite disruptions.

PM Modi criticised attempts to spread panic and rumours, stating that India’s preparedness proved doubters wrong. He emphasized that true self-respect comes from economic and strategic independence, positioning India as the world’s fourth-largest refining hub with expanding capacity.

Landmark HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Inaugurated

The Prime Minister remotely commissioned the country’s first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Pachpadra. Key features include:

  • Petrochemical capacity of 2.4 MMTPA
  • High Nelson Complexity Index of 17.0
  • Petrochemical yields over 26%

This strategic project will boost energy security, petrochemical self-sufficiency, industrial growth in western Rajasthan, and create thousands of jobs through a new Petrochemical and Plastic Park. PM Modi noted the project was stalled under the previous Congress government but accelerated after the change in leadership.

He also laid the foundation for major development initiatives, including Phase 2 of the Jaipur Metro Rail Project (investment over ₹13,000 crore), alongside urban transport, railways, roads, and renewable energy projects.

India’s Energy Resilience Amid Global Turmoil

PM Modi’s remarks come at a time of heightened West Asia conflict and tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil supplies. India’s diversified imports strategy has emerged as a model of crisis management, reducing dependence on any single region and strengthening national energy security.

This achievement underscores the Modi government’s focus on timely project execution and citizen-centric policies. As global uncertainties persist, including FIFA 2026 preparations and ongoing West Asia developments, India’s energy diplomacy stands out as a beacon of stability.
