Assam CM Unveils Major Initiatives: Satellite Launch, OTT Platform, and Economic Growth Plans

Guwahati, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed the media today, outlining a series of transformative initiatives aimed at balancing economic growth, technological advancement, and social harmony in the state.

Land Regulations Revised
CM Sarma emphasized Assam’s sensitive nature and the government’s commitment to preventing communal disturbances. “Last year, we imposed a ban on inter-religious land transfers due to complex circumstances. Now, such transactions are permitted with prior state government approval, ensuring thorough review of each case,” he stated.

Economic Development and Medical Tourism
Reaffirming his government’s focus on uplifting the poor and middle class, Sarma highlighted key budgetary announcements, including the introduction of proton beam therapy. This initiative aims to position Assam as a hub for medical tourism, attracting patients from across the country.

Assam’s Own Satellite with ISRO
To address the state’s flood-prone nature, the CM announced plans to launch Assam’s own satellite in collaboration with ISRO. The satellite will monitor and mitigate flood-related issues, providing critical data for disaster management.

Digital Entertainment Push with OTT Platform
In a move to boost regional content creation, Assam is set to enter the digital entertainment sector with its own OTT platform. This initiative is expected to empower local artists and strengthen the media industry.

Surge in Capital Expenditure
CM Sarma also highlighted a significant increase in capital expenditure, which has risen from Rs 3,000 crore over the past decade to Rs 25,000 crore this year. This marks a strong push for infrastructure development and public welfare projects.

With these initiatives, the Assam government aims to position the state as a leader in economic growth, technological innovation, and cultural preservation.
