“7 Dead, Including 2 Children, as Landslide Sweeps Car into Gorge in Arunachal Pradesh”

In a heartbreaking tragedy, seven people, including two families and two young children, were killed when their car was swept into a deep gorge by a landslide triggered by heavy monsoon rains in Arunachal Pradesh.The incident occurred late last night on the treacherous Bana-Seppa road (NH-13) in East Kameng distict.

A Maruti Fronx carrying the victims was struck by falling debris and pushed off the road into a steep ravine. Rescue teams confirmed all seven occupants died on the spot. Among the deceased were Sankar Aka (Sanju Badi), his wife Tasum Badi, and their two children, aged 5 and 2. A pregnant woman and two other children, reportedly relatives of Sichi Yame, also perished.A nearby Tata Sumo narrowly escaped the same fate, with the driver stopping just before the collapsing road edge. The shaken passengers survived unharmed but were left traumatized.The Bana-Seppa route is notorious for deadly landslides during monsoons due to unstable slopes, poor drainage, and lack of maintenance. Locals have long demanded better infrastructure and safety measures.Despite heavy rains hampering operations, emergency teams continue search efforts. Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Mama Natung expressed grief, offering condolences and urging caution during bad weather.This tragedy has renewed calls for urgent road upgrades, early warning systems, and disaster preparedness to prevent future loss of life.
