Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Assam on a day-long visit despite challenging weather conditions, landing at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (Borjhar) in Guwahati around 11:30 AM on December 29, 2025.
The Home Minister will inaugurate the redevelopment project at Batadrava Than (also known as Bordowa) in Nagaon district, the birthplace of Vaishnava saint Srimanta Sankardev. Following the inauguration, he is scheduled to address a large public rally there.
Later, Shah will inaugurate the Integrated Command and Control System (ICCS) along with the new building of the Guwahati Police Commissionerate. He will also unveil the Jyoti-Bishnu Cultural Complex, a state-of-the-art auditorium with a seating capacity of 5,000.
Additionally, the Home Minister will pay homage at the ‘Swahid Smarak Kshetra’ (Martyrs’ Memorial Park) in Guwahati, commemorating the martyrs of the Assam Movement.
