News Desk, Assam Barta, October 23: A severe incident occurred overnight on the railway track between Kokrajhar and Salakati railway stations. A powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded approximately 5 kilometers east of Kokrajhar Railway Station, completely destroying a section of the track.
The intensity of the blast was such that the railway line was severed, bringing all rail services between Northeast India and the mainland to a complete halt. Following this incident, the rail connectivity system has been severely disrupted.
As a consequence, several trains are stranded at various stations, causing significant inconvenience to passengers. Railway authorities have stated that emergency repair work on the damaged track has begun on a war footing. A special team has already been formed to investigate the incident.
