“Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder: Court Grants 8-Day Police Custody for Sonam & 4 Aides”

Shillong, June 12: A court in Shillong on Wednesday granted eight-day police custody to Sonam Raghuvanshi and her four aides in connection with the alleged murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon in Meghalaya.

Sonam, 24, was arrested from Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, while her accomplices were nabbed from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Police sought a 10-day remand, but the court approved eight days for further interrogation and crime scene reconstruction in Sohra.

The case came to light after Raja and Sonam went missing on May 23 during their vacation. Raja’s body was later found in a gorge on June 2. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is probing the conspiracy angle.

East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem confirmed that transit remands were secured for the accused, with six days granted for those from Indore and three days for Sonam.

The investigation continues as police dig deeper into the alleged murder plot.
