ISRO Successfully Launches Heaviest-Ever Payload: BlueBird Block-2 Satellite for Direct-to-Mobile 5G Connectivity

On Wednesday, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched the BlueBird Block-2 satellite using the LVM3 rocket.

ISRO’s powerful LVM3 rocket completed its sixth operational flight from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The launch took place at approximately 8:54–8:55 AM, marking the heaviest payload ever carried by the LVM3 to Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

The LVM3 features two solid strap-on motors and has previously successfully launched Chandrayaan-2 and Chandrayaan-3. ISRO also conducted another satellite launch on November 2, 2025.

This mission is poised to bring a revolutionary change in the world of mobile connectivity. Soon, mobile phones will be able to receive network signals without relying on ground towers.

The BlueBird Block-2 is no ordinary satellite. It is the largest commercial communications satellite ever deployed in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) to date. This satellite will provide direct 4G and 5G connectivity from space to mobile phones. No matter where you are on Earth, you will have access to network services. As a result, voice and video calls will become easier, and text messaging and streaming will be uninterrupted.
