Former all-rounder Irfan Pathan has once again come out in strong support of Assam’s son and Indian national cricket team member Riyan Parag.
Among senior and former cricketers in the country, Pathan has consistently given greater importance to Riyan, encouraging and motivating him since his domestic cricket and IPL days.
This time, ahead of the ongoing series against New Zealand, Pathan has publicly urged the selectors to include Riyan Parag in place of injured all-rounder Washington Sundar.
In a post on social media, he stated:
“If Riyan Parag is fit, the selectors can include him in place of the injured Washington Sundar. Riyan is a very talented cricketer.”
It is worth noting that Riyan Parag has been out of the team since participating in the ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Although his name was frequently discussed and considered for selection in several previous series, the selectors did not include him due to inconsistent form and fitness concerns.
