Tehran, January 14, 2026 – The Indian Embassy in Tehran has issued an urgent advisory asking all Indian nationals in Iran to leave the country as soon as possible due to the rapidly deteriorating security situation.
The Embassy has advised students, businesspersons, pilgrims, tourists, and other Indian citizens to depart Iran at the earliest using commercial flights or any other available means of transportation.
Indian nationals still in Iran are strongly urged to exercise extreme caution, avoid protest areas and demonstrations, stay in regular contact with the Embassy, keep track of local news updates, and always carry essential documents such as passports and visas.

The advisory comes amid growing concerns that the situation in Iran could worsen at any time. The Embassy’s primary objective is to ensure the safety and well-being of Indian citizens in the current volatile environment.
Tensions have risen further following repeated statements by US President Donald Trump indicating the possibility of military action against Iran.
In light of the ongoing widespread protests, escalating unrest, and heightened security risks, the Ministry of External Affairs has once again strongly advised Indian nationals to avoid all travel to Iran until further notice.
