Dhurandhar 2 Creates History: First Bollywood Film to Cross Rs 1,000 Crore Net in India

Mumbai: In a landmark achievement for Indian cinema, Dhurandhar 2 has become the first Bollywood film to enter the elite Rs 1,000 crore net club at the domestic box office. Directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role, the much-awaited sequel has rewritten box office records by crossing Rs 1,013.77 crore net in India by day 18 (Sunday evening), according to Sacnilk.

With this feat, Dhurandhar 2 joins the ranks of South Indian blockbusters Pushpa 2 and Baahubali 2 as only the third Indian film overall to achieve the Rs 1,000 crore milestone in net domestic collections. Notably, the Hindi version of the film alone has collected Rs 900 crore, setting a new all-time record for any single-language Bollywood release.

The Ranveer Singh starrer, which also features Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun, has maintained an exceptional run since its release on March 19. The film benefited from the Gudi Padwa holiday, followed by Eid and the weekend, giving it a strong opening push. Strong word-of-mouth from the first installment, which released in December 2025, further propelled its momentum, even as it faced some criticism alongside the praise.

Dhurandhar 2 wrapped up its second week with Rs 263.65 crore and entered the third weekend on a high note. It posted impressive numbers with Rs 21.55 crore on day 16 (third Friday), Rs 25.65 crore on Saturday (day 17), and Rs 28.75 crore on Sunday (day 18), helping it cross the historic Rs 1,000 crore mark.

The film’s success is not limited to India. Dhurandhar 2 has also emerged as a global powerhouse, collecting over USD 22 million in its opening weekend overseas and crossing USD 30 million in the second week. On Saturday, it witnessed a sharp 100% jump, earning more than USD 1 million in a single day. Its total international gross now stands at over USD 41.5 million. In North America, Dhurandhar 2 has broken the 9-year-old record held by Baahubali 2, becoming the highest-grossing Indian film ever in the region.

With its relentless performance both domestically and internationally, Dhurandhar 2 has firmly established itself as one of the biggest blockbusters in Indian cinema history, proving that well-crafted sequels with strong storytelling and star power continue to dominate the box office.
