Guwahati, December 18, 2025: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has sharply criticized and condemned the malicious propaganda being spread by certain political circles against Garima Saikia Garg, the wife of late iconic singer Zubeen Garg.
Dismissing the rumors as completely unfounded and irresponsible, the Chief Minister clarified that he has had no discussions with Garima Saikia Garg regarding any electoral matters.
In a strong statement, CM Sarma said, “It is utterly inappropriate and condemnable to tarnish someone’s personal dignity and reputation for political gains. I have not engaged in any conversation with Garima Garg on election-related issues. This propaganda is the result of a well-orchestrated malicious agenda by a specific political party.”
The Chief Minister accused opposition elements of attempting to poison the political atmosphere ahead of elections by spreading fake news and rumors. He emphasized that such actions undermine the sanctity of democratic processes and create unnecessary confusion among the public.
Finally, CM Sarma appealed to the people of Assam to reject false narratives and propaganda traps, urging them to support truthful and responsible politics instead. He expressed hope that the citizens of the state would stay away from such low-level tactics and uphold healthy democratic traditions.
