Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Vows to Reveal Gaurav Gogoi’s Alleged Pakistan Links by January End

Evidence of Gaurav Gogoi’s Pakistan Connection to be Made Public Within January: Chief MinisterStrong Allegation That Congress Elections Rely on Illegal Bangladeshi Votes

Guwahati, January 9, 2026: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has intensified his allegations against Congress MP and state party president Gaurav Gogoi, promising to make public documents related to Gogoi’s purported connections with Pakistan before the month concludes.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a government programme in Goreswar (Baksa district) after a Cabinet meeting, Sarma stated that officials are finalizing the paperwork. “The documents relating to Gaurav Gogoi’s Pakistan links are being readied. Our officers are working on it. We will give it to you all before February. In fact, before the end of January, it will be revealed,” he said.

Sarma emphasized the urgency of the matter, describing it as a major conspiracy uncovered during Assam Police investigations. He noted that a small clarification from the Ministry of Home Affairs is still awaited, but disclosure will proceed regardless — potentially between January 15-18 or 24-31. “Pakistan is our enemy nation. Therefore, the people have the right to know these facts,” he added, questioning how Gogoi could serve as Chief Minister if family members have foreign ties.

The Chief Minister also launched sharp attacks on Congress’s alleged vote bank politics, claiming the party’s elections heavily rely on votes from illegal Bangladeshi migrants (referred to as “Miyas”). He accused Congress of exploiting this community without providing support during evictions, contrasting it with his government’s approach. “The entire election machinery of Congress depends on the votes of illegal Bangladeshis. This is their real vote bank,” Sarma remarked, adding that Gogoi has never visited any eviction drive.

Further criticizing Congress internals, Sarma alleged widespread ticket-selling scams involving crores of rupees in multiple constituencies and predicted infighting ahead of the Assembly elections. On Rajya Sabha seats, he confirmed BJP will contest all three.

These fresh accusations, building on earlier claims linking Gogoi and his British wife Elizabeth Colburn to Pakistan’s ISI (with a Special Investigation Team already probing), have heightened political tensions in Assam as Assembly polls approach.

Gogoi has previously denied all such allegations. The promised revelations could significantly impact the state’s political landscape. Stay tuned for updates as January progresses.
