Guwahati, January 13: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday expressed strong solidarity with the Hindu community in Bangladesh amid reports of ongoing atrocities and persecution.

Speaking to Shribhumi media, Dr. Sarma stated that the people of Assam stand firmly with the Hindus of Bangladesh and called on the Government of India to take decisive steps to end the oppression.

“We have always stood with the Hindus of Bangladesh. I appeal to the Government of India to take strong measures so that the atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh come to an end,” the Chief Minister said.

The statement comes as India has already voiced serious concern over the reported persecution and attacks on the Hindu minority in the neighbouring country.
