Amit Shah Oversees Assam Rifles Relocation in Mizoram, Boosts Aizawl Development

Aizawl, Mizoram: Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended a significant land transfer ceremony between Assam Rifles and the Mizoram government on Saturday, marking the relocation of Assam Rifles establishments from Aizawl city center to Zokhawsang. The move, aimed at addressing long-standing space constraints, is expected to pave the way for urban expansion and infrastructural development in the state capital.

Speaking at the event, Shah underscored the importance of the relocation, stating, “This programme is not just about the transfer of Assam Rifles, but it is a very important step. For about 35 years, due to topography and space limitations, there was a demand to shift the Assam Rifles camp. Today, under PM Modi’s leadership, this long-pending demand has been fulfilled.”

The Home Minister emphasized that the decision reflects the Government of India’s commitment to the Mizo people and their development. By freeing up prime urban space, the relocation is set to unlock new opportunities for Aizawl’s growth while ensuring the Assam Rifles continue to operate effectively from their new base.

This initiative aligns with the Centre’s broader efforts to promote development in Mizoram and enhance urban planning across the northeastern region. The ceremony marks a milestone in the state’s journey toward sustainable development and improved infrastructure.
