Guwahati, February 23: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Assam, the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) has raised 16 critical questions, urging him to address them in his speech at Sarusajai. AJP President Lurinjyoti Gogoi and General Secretary Jagadish Bhuyan, while raising these questions, accused the BJP-led government of making false promises and taking ‘U-turns’ on key issues concerning Assam.
Gogoi pointed out that despite calling Assam an essential part of India’s development, the BJP government has consistently failed to fulfill its commitments. He added that the people of Assam had voted for the BJP with high hopes, only to face betrayal.
The 16 Questions Raised by AJP:
- When will the process of identifying and expelling illegal foreigners in Assam be completed?
Before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Narendra Modi had promised in a campaign rally that all illegal foreigners would have to leave India after May 16, 2014. What happened to that promise?
