The Assam Police’s Crime Branch on Thursday carried out raids in Jorhat in relation to the operation of illicit prostitution rings involving young girls who were in need of protection. This comes after significant raids were conducted against prostitution and human trafficking rings operating out of a number of Guwahati spas in recent days.
Authorities reportedly searched a spa in connection with the incident and took one individual into custody there. The detained woman was identified as Pallabi Das. Officials reported that she was involved in procuring and supplying young girls to supply as prostitutes to potential clients.
