Two employees at a restaurant in Guwahati on Sunday made serious accusations against local police officers for allegedly harassing them in relation to the Ranjit Bora murder case. According to reports, the two staff members of the Panjabari-based Bamboo Heights Multi-Cuisine Restaurant were arrested in connection with the daylight slaying of Purabi Dairy manager Ranjit Bora.
They were interrogated in relation to the case after being held. The workers at Bamboo Heights claimed that after the police were unable to get any information from the two, they began to harass them. The two employees of the Panjbari-based restaurant, who had been arrested, were identified as Rashidul Ali and Raja Das.
They said that the police continued to harass them by interrogating them for hours over numerous other cases to which they were unrelated. The two said that since their detention by the police, they have been shunned by society and endure everyday harassment.
It should be mentioned that earlier this week, Ranjit Bora passed away from gunshot wounds at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), after thugs shot at the businessman in Guwahati’s Panjabari neighbourhood. He had gone to the bank to deposit some money when the incident occurred.
