In a significant development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken action against corruption by arresting four individuals, including the chairperson of Bhartia Infra Project Limited, in connection with a Railways contract scam. The arrests took place in Guwahati, Assam, following a 12-member team’s raids at multiple locations in the city to investigate allegations of bribery for securing railway contracts.
The accused have been identified as Ramavtar Bhartia, Abhinash Bhartia, Pawan Kumar Bhartia, and Shankar Prasad Mor, with Ramavtar Bhartia holding the position of chairperson in the company. During the extensive operation, the CBI team also conducted searches at the suspects’ residences and other company offices, leading to the seizure of crucial documents pertaining to the firm.
