2 NHAI officers among 5 arrested by CBI in Guwahati in bribery case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested five people- two officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in Assam and three employees, including the Executive Director of a Gurugram-based private company in an alleged bribery case of Rs 4 lakh. The CBI arrested an Accounts and Junior Accounts officer of NHAI, both of regional office, Assam.

The central agency carried out searches at around 15 places in Guwahati, Bengaluru, Gurugram, Shillong, and Patna at the premises of the accused, which led to the recovery of incriminating materials. The officials recovered cash worth Rs 2.33 crores from the premises of the Executive Director of the private company. The CBI carried out a raid based on input about the exchange of bribes and arrested the accused.

The accused have been identified as Dipak Das (Accounts Officer) and Manoj Kumar (Junior Accounts Officer) of NHAI and they will be produced before a court in Guwahati. The employees of a private company have been identified as Sunil Kumar Agarwal (Executive Director), Pankaj and Dilip Rajput, employees of M/s GR Infraprojects Ltd in Gurugram.
